2015:
Installation of a truck weighing machine, as well as continuous upgrading of the fleet.
2014:
Installation of a high silo system that offers storage for powdered goods. The high silo system consists of four vertical silos with a volume of 120m³ each.
2013:
The sons Matthias and Sebastian Kloft join the company as co-partners on 01.08.2013. On the same day, six young men, including five future professional drivers, begin their apprenticeships at Spedition Michels. Construction of a bulk goods hall with three boxes for the interim storage of ceramic raw materials.
2012:
Awarded the “GMP – Good Manufacturing Practice” certificate, valid until 2014. This relates mainly to road transport of animal feed and grain in accordance with strict regulations that go beyond national and EU legislation. The new GMP certificate and the certification in 2005 as a specialist disposal company strengthen our position in the transportation industry.
2007:
Despite the difficult situation brought about by various provisions, laws and regulations, we are still able to hold our own in a year of financial crisis in the market.
2006:
Construction of the office and workshop starts at the beginning of the year. We relocate to the new office in the middle of the year. In addition to this, an integrated lorry wash system is built onto the workshop. We expand our fleet in all areas, particularly in metal and silo transportation.
2005:
Certification as a specialist disposal company allows us to enter new area of business, such as the transportation of waste requiring special supervision. We are now able to transport all the hazardous waste listed in the European Waste Catalogue. Planning of office construction and extension to the workshop.
2004:
The fleet is expanded and now consists of various silo (tanker) trailers, dump trucks, curtainsiders and flatbed trucks with various structures and configurations. We transport steel, steel-protective screens, clay, building materials and waste metal (ferrous and non-ferrous metal).
1999 and 2001:
Construction of two warehouses to store ceramic mass and raw materials.
1997:
Karl-Heinz Kloft takes over the company.
Change of company name to Karl Michels GmbH & Co. KG. Karl-Heinz Kloft becomes Managing Director.
1980:
Establishment of our own workshop, which is used to maintain and repair our own vehicles as well as vehicles from other companies.
1974 to 1979:
Relocation of the company from the centre of the town to a newly developed industrial estate in Meudt.
A hall is built on an area of about 60,000m² which includes a pit for vehicle repairs and storage space. The undeveloped land is used as a storage and stacking area.
1965 to 1974:
Expansion of business activities to include international logistical services all over Europe.
1950 to 1965:
Constant expansion of the transportation company.
Transfer of the company to the second generation. The business is now run by Engelbert Kloft (Karl Michels' son-in-law).
1950:
Acquisition of two lorries with trailers to transport clay from regional clay pits to tile producers all over Germany.
1938:
Karl Michels founds the company as a one-man operation in Meudt. Driving a small lorry as an entrepreneur, he transports clay from various clay pits for loading onto trains.
